  • Neil W. Blackmon

    Neil W. Blackmon, a partner with the firm. Based in the Miami office, Mr. Blackmon currently focuses his practice in the areas of insurance coverage, appeals and complex civil litigation.

    Mr. Blackmon is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he earned a Bachelor degree in English, graduating with honors. While an undergraduate, Mr. Blackmon became the first University of Florida student selected three times to the Cross-Examination Debate Association All-American team. He was also a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honorary Society and UF’s oldest and most prestigious fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega.

    Following undergraduate, Mr. Blackmon worked as the Director of Debate at Pace University, taught argumentation and volunteered in New York City high schools before returning to the University of Florida to attend the Levin College of Law. In law school, Mr. Blackmon served as student Research Assistant to Professor Kenneth Nunn as well as the Center for the Study of Race and Relations. Mr. Blackmon also earned Book Award honors in Criminal Law (Police Practices) and Federal Courts and served on the Editorial Board of the Florida Journal of International Law.

    Before joining the firm, Mr. Blackmon worked for six years as an assistant public defender in multiple Florida jurisdictions, where he gained extensive motion, appellate and trial experience. Mr. Blackmon tried over thirty cases to verdict, ranging from simple misdemeanors to felony charges punishable by life. In both 2012 and 2013 he was honored with the Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers “Hat Trick Award” for three consecutive not guilty verdicts in a calendar year. Mr. Blackmon served as a member of the Florida Bar Association Government Lawyers Executive Council in 2015. In 2016, he received an award for pro bono excellence from Three Rivers Legal Services of Gainesville.
