Perhaps
the most common, but least noticed, discrimination in the United
States is discrimination of those who have disabilities. Congress
enacted the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990, noting that
over 40 million Americans have disabilities, most of whom having
faced some form of discrimination over the course of their lives.
The types of discrimination that a person with disabilities may
confront include: a lack of accessibility in public accommodations
(stores, theaters, cruise ships); communication barriers for those
who are vision or hearing impaired; barriers in public or private
transportation, discrimination in housing; and employment discrimination.
The firm of Gaebe, Mullen, Antonelli, Esco
& DiMatteo represents clients in several of these
areas, ranging from employees and employers in EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION
charges, all the way to litigation involving race, color, sex (including
sexual harassment), age, religion, national origin, disability,
marital status, citizenship, veterans' rights, and retaliation claims.
Gaebe, Mullen, Antonelli, Esco & DiMatteo
defends employers in cases involving employment tort litigation,
including but not limited to, claims of negligent hiring and retention,
negligent supervision, defamation, wrongful discharge, intentional
infliction of emotional distress, invasion of privacy, and other
similar causes of action. We also represent employers in ERISA litigation.
Our office has extensive experience in litigating employment-related
claims and our approach to such litigation is to aggressively defend
and/or pursue these claims in an efficient, cost-effective fashion.
